ENROLMENT DAY
Enrolment Day will be on Friday 30th August from 10am – 2pm.
To sign up:
You can sign up for any of the classes, courses and activities you wish to on this day.
PLEASE bring cash if you can as we only have the one card machine so it will save
you having to queue.
You can sign up for your membership tomorrow Wednesday & Thursday of this week
but the courses can only be paid for on Friday.
If you cannot make it down on Enrolment Day you can give your money and new
Membership number to someone else and have them come down and sign you up.
Or you can call down any of the days the following week when you will be able to
sign up to any group that still has spaces remaining.
Classes that do NOT incur a fee CAN also be signed up for on Enrolment Day.
There will be restrictions on numbers for some groups.
When we can, we will try and run an additional class if we get the numbers.
Sign up for these courses will be located on Enrolment Day in the Foyle Art Room –
this will include activities – but not limited to – groups such as the Craft Groups,
Walking Groups, Walking Cricket, Table Tennis, Badminton, Book Clubs, New Writing
Group 2, Play Readers, Storytelling, Bowls, Bird Watching, Folk Club & Ukulele
groups.
Anyone who can volunteer to help on the day & hasn’t let me know yet – including
any tutors and group leaders – please let me know by email or call the office please!
On account of the work ongoing in the building we are restricting access to the
newer end of the building next week.
This means that there will not be any activities taking place after 11am next
Thursday (Mervyn’s PAC Mens’ Keep Fit and the Gentle Movement to Music at
10.15am will be unaffected) or all day Friday as we will need to set up rooms for the
Enrolment Day.
Thanks for your understanding in this matter.
I look forward to seeing you all back in the building on Friday!
PROSPECTUS
I have attached the Prospectus – please note that this is a first draft.
If there are any mistakes or I have forgotten something please let me know!
PLEASE NOTE – the dates for starting are dependent on the completion dates for
the ongoing work in the building so they are an indication at this time.
The workmen are in the building for another 2 weeks at least and we then need to
get the building cleaned and readied.
We MAY be able to return earlier than the dates listed so keep an eye on the emails
please.
MELODY MAKERS CONCERT
I’m sure you will all remember the traumatic incident which occurred when Peter
Jennings was returning from a delivery in Ukraine in which he was severely injured
and the three soldiers accompanying him were killed.
Consequently he is unable to resume his deliveries to Ukraine, and so transportation
needs to be organised to ensure the donations reach the place where they are
desperately needed.
Elizabeth Charlesson felt in, in her words, ” a concert coming on” and so her ever
willing friends in the Melody Makers agreed to put on another concert to support this
worthy cause.
U3A members Elizabeth, Joe Deery, Rory Canavan, Ken Canning, and Dympna
McGuckian are joined by Jim Gallagher, Anne-Marie O’Kane, Padraig O’Kane and
their Ukrainian friend, Kristina.
The Variety Concert will take place on Thursday, 26 th September at 7.45pm in
Waterside Presbyterian Church.
She is hoping that members of the U3A will support them in this endeavour as
before.
Tickets are available in the U3A office from today.
PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY
This ten week Introductory Class is once again being offered here at U3A Foyle.
This is not an academic course but a very practical philosophy designed for ordinary
people to put the words of wise into practice and to learn stillness.
Check out this link below to get more information but please do not enrol
online and make sure to scroll down to see the outline of the full ten weeks course.
You will be able to sign up and pay the small fee of £10 on Enrolment Day. The first
session will be Wednesday 2nd October at 2pm in the Games Room.
