About Us
U3A Foyle is a voluntary organisation, based in the beautiful grounds of Gransha Park. Its aim is to encourage men and women to enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle in their later years.
In 1989 an advert was spotted by Pascal McDonald in a paper for a job at the U3A, an unfamiliar organisation. Research into this self help organisation for active retired people led a small group of likeminded people to start meeting at Magee. The initial offering included golf, swimming and bridge. This led to the first U3A set-up in Northern Ireland.
Our vision is that all participants in our programme reach their full potential in leading active and fulfilling lifestyles.
In 1992 permanent premises were obtained and together with the addition of the Active Living Centre in 2012 allowed the growth of the organisation to offer over 125 different activities and courses you will find today!
