About Us
U3A Foyle is a voluntary organisation, based in the grounds of Gransha Park. Its aim is to encourage men and women to enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle in their later years.
In 1989 an advert was spotted by Pascal McDonald in a paper for a job at the U3A. Research into this self help organisation for active retired people led a small group of likeminded people to start meeting at Magee. The initial offering included golf, swimming and bridge. This led to the first U3A set-up in Northern Ireland.
In 1992 permanent premises were obtained and together with the addition of the Active Living Centre in 2012 allowed the growth of the organisation, and it currently offers over 125 different activities and courses. Please see ‘Courses’ for further details.
